About Victoria.
Founder of Wholehearted Nutrition
MS, CNS, LDN, CLC | Pittsburgh-Based Functional Nutritionist
Hi there!
I’m Victoria Algeri— a Certified Nutrition Specialist, Licensed Dietitian Nutritionist, and Certified Lactation Counselor based in Pittsburgh. I specialize in personalized nutrition counseling for women’s health, infant and pediatric nutrition, family feeding dynamics and chronic health conditions with a functional lens.
Starting a family-focused nutrition practice just felt right for me. As an older sister and cousin, I’ve always been surrounded by little ones and I loved every second of it. That led into five years as a nanny for infants through age eight where I was graciously allowed into families to support them and gain insight into different feeding difficulties. In my most recent role, I have supported hundreds of families through pregnancy, breastfeeding and early childhood feeding as a WIC nutritionist. Everywhere I go, I find myself gravitating towards caring for children and the women raising them.
My Why
Growing up in the early 2000s meant being steeped in diet culture. I saw firsthand how deeply that affected women’s relationships with food, their bodies’ and self-worth. Many of the women I now work with were taught to restrict, shrink and ignore their needs. This often presents as hormonal dysregulation, infertility, and lack of trust with oneself.
My goal with WHN is to help women heal their relationship with food while also teaching them to raise children who trust their bodies, eat with curiosity instead of fear, and honor their body’s cues. I truly believe that a nourishing relationship to food starts in infancy. Helping moms trust themselves is the first step in raising intuitive, well-nourished children.
When I’m not on zoom supporting clients, you’ll find me in my own kitchen, tending my tiny herb garden, taking walks around the neighborhood, hiking in the mountains, enjoying dinner with friends, or going out dancing. I’m a big believer that food is so much more than just macro- and micro- nutrients. It can be an excellent tool for connection and caring.
